It's the basis of almost everything we do. We don't care about helping everyone. We care about helping the group we identify with and often it is a win if we help our group at the expense of others. Humans are naturally aware of scarcity, and due to the competition we want to dismantle any opposing groups.
It is the reason why mob mentality is so common on either side of the political spectrum. Why we can stomach waging war, but would never hurt our fellow country man. Why we can label women/men as something nasty. It's because by demonizing the other group, your group comes out a bit ahead.
People can preach "empathy" all they want, but the human natural order is to be empathetic to those you identify with and can further your cause. Not any random stranger.
There is a natural inclination to have in-groups with either race, gender, nationality, income status, religion you name it. So when demonizing fundamental christians, think first about why you're doing that and what you hope to gain from it. It's almost certainly self serving.

Brunei bans Christmas: Sultan warns those celebrating could face up to five years in jail
Anyone found illegally celebrating Christmas in Brunei could face up to five years in prison, according to a reported declaration by the Sultan of the tiny oil-rich state.
Brunei introduced its ban on Christmas last year over fears that celebrating it "excessively and openly" could lead its Muslim population astray.

I did some minor witnessing this morning before it got really hot outside lol. I passed a few tracks out most of which I saw go right into the garbage by the people I gave them too. One guy (literally) threw his track back at me and said extremely rudly as he was leaving "I'm a math teacher...I dont believe in pixie fairies".
I took the tracks from the garbage and went to the library and stuffed them in some of the new books they just put out including re-placing a few in the atheist books that had the old ones I placed taken out when people rented the books.
My view is it's their choice and their lose. I wrote in another thread how times have changed in the last twenty years. I recall back in the late 1980s being a Christian was a normal thing...and people whom weren't a Christian still respected your choice to be one, and willing to listen to your views to some point. Today it seems being a Christian is like being a weirdo or something, and people don’t want to hear anything about God (or work in hostility upon removing God from the picture).
Atheism is a religious view. They believe there's no God. It's impossible not to have a religious view. It's like saying there's no weather.
