I agree with him on one thing: we need to humanise Hitler. It is way too easy to make the nazis into such cartoonish evil or grandiose monsters that people will not believe their particular style of maliciousness is still possible. It very much is. They did not come into power because they were advertising that they wanted to murder millions of people, they came into power because they promised to lower the price of stuff and had the perfect fall people for the inflated prices. Hitler was not some bigger than life evil genius, he was just some failed painter with a love for big dogs and hatred for people who were not like him.
People need to keep this in mind lest we forget that the shit the nazis did is still very much possible here and now.
