The troubles people are struggling with today are many, as they try to navigate through this sinful, fallen world the best they’re able. Many people are living in unbearable circumstances, and have been for a very long time and things have not gotten any better for them. There are troubled marriages, people struggling with being unequally yoked with an unbelieving spouse, there are situations where children, raised in Christian homes, have fallen away from their faith and embraced all the sin and wickedness of worldly enticements. In many of these cases, the parents suffer terrible emotional turmoil, as they watch their children head full-speed down the highway to hell.

There are many troubled people, troubled marriages, dysfunctional families, broken homes, wayward children, grandparents in anguish because their grandchildren are growing up estranged from them and in Godless, secular homes. Friends, the only answer to all these things is humble repentance and turning once again — or for some, for the very first time — to God our Father and Creator, and Jesus His Son. The Christian life is not one of ease, but the alternative, as we see so often now from the seeds we’ve sown, is pure anguish.

The 5.2-magnitude earthquake that struck the Chinese city of Liuzhou (population 4.14 million) in the southwestern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (population 50,000,000) was an unusually shallow tremor and, therefore, quite suspicious in nature. No one likes higher taxes. But New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s plan to tax wealthy residents’ second homes has elicited a highly emotional response from two of the city’s richest.
“Creepy and weird,” is what Ken Griffin had to say Tuesday at a conference about Mamdani’s campaign-style video touting the tax outside the hedge fund manager’s $238 million penthouse.

Steven Roth, the CEO of real estate giant Vornado, went further Tuesday on an earnings call.

“I consider the phrase ‘tax the rich’ when spit out with anger and contempt by politicians both here and across the country, to be just as hateful as some disgusting racial slurs and even the phrase, ‘from the river to the sea,’” Roth said, referring to the pro-Palestinian phrase that the Anti-Defamation League labels an antisemitic threat.

Mamdani announced a plan last month to tax New York City’s luxury second homes with market values above $5 million, saying it would fulfill his central campaign promise to “tax the rich.” He singled out Griffin’s penthouse as a prime example of the “fundamentally unfair system” that allows the city’s richest to store their wealth in homes that sit empty most of the time without paying city and state income taxes.

Business leaders have rallied to Griffin’s defense and said Mamdani’s video endangered his safety.

“We are all shocked that our young mayor would pull this stunt in front of Ken’s home and single him out for ridicule,” Steven Roth said. “The ugly, unnecessary video stunt is personal for Ken and sort of personal for me.” Vornado is one of the largest real estate companies in New York City and is currently developing a new office tower with Griffin’s hedge fund Citadel.

The rich who Mamdani and other political leaders target “are the epitome of the American dream” and the largest employers and philanthropists, Roth said. “They are at the top of the great American economic pyramid for a reason. They should be praised and thanked.”

The Trump Administration released a national counterterrorism strategy on Wednesday that newly targets so-called “violence-secular political groups” and domestic ideological movements, including anti-fascist groups (antifa) and attacks prompted by so-called transgender ideology.

The report ignores the fact that acts of domestic terrorism are committed far more often by right-wing groups and foreign agents than by leftist groups. It’s also the administration’s latest move in creating justifications to surveil and prosecute LGBTQ+ and allied groups that regularly challenge the president’s relentlessly anti-democratic and unconstitutional actions.

Sebastian Gorka, the senior director for counterterrorism at the National Security Council, told reporters that the nation is witnessing a “resurgence of violent left-wing ideology,” The Washington Times reported.

Gorka told reporters, “Americans have witnessed politically motivated killings of Christians and conservatives increase, committed by violent left-wing extremists, including the assassination of my friend, Charlie Kirk, by a radical who espoused extremist transgender ideology.”
“We are seeing an ideology that ostensibly began by preaching tolerance being used by specific actors to wage violence against the most innocent little children at Catholic schools, at churches,” he added. “This is a threat we will take very seriously, whether you are right-wing-inspired or left-wing-inspired.”
