Frankly, as much as being literal speck of nothing in the infinitesimal cosmos may be frightening on an existential level, and being a mere "footnote in a text one could not even leaf through in a star's life cycle” (at best) is humbling, I’d still prefer that over the idea that ALL of existence is just our little dirtball of a world, with NOTHING beyond that, and that we primitive, shit-throwing apes are the only “intelligence” there is and that our sole purpose of existing is to be the entertainment of a narcissistic cosmic horror…
Besides, as the Vulcans believe, IDIC; Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. I personally find that idea to be beautiful.
P.S.: Should an actual Angel somehow appear before these arrogant fundies, I’d more like to imagine that, instead of praising them for being the “single most important, most loyal, most special snowflake in all of God’s myriad eyes”, they say something like “Even in the hummingbird heartbeat of your recorded time, you are an exceptional footnote in a text one could not even leaf through in a star's life cycle, so I invite you to contemplate how quickly my eyes gloss over you.” and then just move on.
