French police smashed a neo-Nazi cell accused of plotting attacks on Jewish or Muslim places of worship, judicial sources said Tuesday.
Five members of the group, who were "close in ideology to the neo-Nazi movement" were charged between September and May over the alleged plot, which was still "ill-defined", a source close to the investigation said.
"The investigation suggested they were developing an ill-defined plot to carry out an attack, likely to target a place of worship," the judicial source said.
The investigation had been ongoing for several months, leading to the arrest of five people who were planning attacks against several targets, including the annual dinner of the Representative Council of French Jewish Institutions (CRIF) and Muslim places of worship, according to reports.
Among the suspects are an assistant volunteer constable and a 15-year-old, according to reports in the French press. The arrests are believed to have taken place between September 2018 and the end of May 2019.
The five suspects had named their group 'L'Oiseau Noir' ('Black Bird) and they communicated via a forum where they discussed the possibilities of an attack, it was reported.
The investigation was opened after the September 2018 arrest of a volunteer constable whose contract was expiring in Grenoble, with investigators finding Kalashnikovs, explosives, a Glock pistol and a rifle at their home.
The investigation led them to the four other suspects, two of them minors.

ROMANIAN CHURCH WANTS PRIDE WEEK PLAY BANNED

The Romanian Orthodox Church said on Wednesday that the play, called ‘I am Too. So What?’, which has been staged during Pride Week in the Transylvanian city of Cluj, should be banned.
The church said in a statement that a law from 2006 that “forbids any form” of “religious defamation” or “public offence towards religious symbols”.
“Accordingly, we have pleaded for the law to be respected in its spirit and its letter,” the statement said.
It described the play as “an act of ideological anti-Christian propaganda”.
But the Cluj Pride Week organisers denied the play has any intention of denigrating Christianity and its values.
The show instead targets “religious extremists” and the “fake religiosity” that some use to attack the most “vulnerable”, the organisers said.
They also pointed out that the play has been performed before at other venues not associated with the gay community, without prompting any negative reactions.
This shows that the Church is just looking for an excuse to push its “extremist” agenda against gays, they added.
The Romanian Orthodox Church is known for its hostility towards homosexuality.
In 2018, it strongly supported a referendum to change the definition of marriage in the constitution.
The Romanian constitution defines marriage as the union of two spouses. The promoters of the referendum wanted this changed to a new formula that explicitly defined marriage as the union of a man and a woman.

Cartoon Network promotes 'Pride Month' to young children
Cartoon Network, the popular television channel watched by millions of children, promoted LGBT pride month by using one of its widely popular shows to encourage fans to “stand proud."
LGBT activists have designated June as “pride month” to celebrate alternative sexual lifestyles and gender identities, and Cartoon Network took to Twitter last week to voice its solidarity with the movement as thousands take part in events nationwide.
“We want to wish everyone a HAPPY PRIDE and encourage all of our LGBTQ+ fans to stand proud all year long!” the network, which is owned by Warner Bros., tweeted along with emojis representing a rainbow flag, heart and a unicorn.
The tweet also included a picture of characters from its popular reboot show “Powerpuff Girls.”
The tweet included the hashtags “#powerpuffyourself,” “#pridemonth” and “#powerfuffgirls.”
The network is up there with the likes Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel as being television outlets favorited by children because of the number of cartoons that it broadcasts throughout the week.
Cartoon Network bills itself as being “the best in original, acquired and classic entertainment for youth and families.” However, many parents object to media outlets pushing an agenda that contradicts their own beliefs on sexuality and marriage.
Twitter is not the only place where Cartoon Network is promoting LGBT pride, however. Cartoon Network is also doing so through its online shop and some of its cartoon characters themselves.
Last year, it is believed that Cartoon Network’s animated show “Steven Universe” became the first children’s show to feature a same-sex wedding proposal. The proposal was between female characters named Sapphire and Ruby.

I’m one semester away from finishing my math degree at a high quality university ranked in the top 20 schools in the US, and 2 away from finishing my compsci degree. This is my third internship and most of the other interns at my company are about as qualified as me.

Five teenagers have now been arrested over a robbery and homophobic attack on a couple after they 'refused to kiss' while travelling on a bus, police said this evening.
Melania Geymonat, 28, from Uruguay, was with her American girlfriend Chris after an evening out in West Hampstead, London, when they were attacked at 2.30am on May 30.
Police say the couple were sat on the top deck when they were approached by a group of males who began to make lewd and homophobic comments to them.
