Actually hold on, was it this asshat I’m thinking of that excused Kenosha? I know for a fact he has some serious double standards for Ahmaud Arbery but I’m not seeing any of his vomit on Rittenhouse in an archive search. I’d hate to be talking out my ass.

So when Kyle Rittenhouse went armed with a weapon he could not legally possess into a city he did not live in to flaunt a curfew that he ridiculously claimed to be enforcing despite having no legal authority to do so and indeed it being a criminal act and harassed random people until one took a swing at him this act of violence, which he provoked, was all that he needed to clear him of all responsibility for the criminal acts he was in the middle of committing and claim self defense. This first victim - who post-killing was frantically labelled as a convicted pedophile which even if Rittenhouse somehow could have known had absolutely zero bearing on the events of that night - had no right to self defense upon being confronted by the teenage “militia” member who hounded him a short distance until he ducked out of sight to “ambush” his pursuer and the witnesses to the shooting, despite fearing for their lives, similarly had no rights and their attempts to disable an active shooter you then portrayed as a vicious assault which justified further killings. You wanted everyone on the block executed which you claimed was appropriate because property destruction was going on in the general area and that’s good enough to say everyone involved was guilty of everything everywhere. Kyle Rittenhouse might not have been charged at all had his mother not insisted on driving him to the police to turn himself in after he came home, as the police who rolled up in the aftermath of the shooting decided on the spot he was free to leave the scene, the city, and the state of the crime despite being the clearly armed shooter loudly identified by the crowd the police proceeded to treat as the real threat. The following trial was little more than theater and made little discussion of the right to self defense for any non-Rittenhouse individual and none at all for the police simply letting a criminal into a city under lockdown and then walk right back out after committing more crimes, armed, touching his gun right in front of the police, with bodies on the ground. And every effort was made to demonize the residents - whether they were involved in illegal acts that night or not simply being held collectively responsible - while excusing the militia to whom the law simply did not apply and who did not bear responsibility for any of the actions of any of their members.

When thousands of people smashed their way into the Capitol building with the loudly stated intention of murder, makeshift gallows at the ready, improvised explosive devices deployed, restraints for taking hostages to later execute and floor plans to find them distributed, and anything not nailed down securely in hand the one cop who had the gall to discharge their weapon at the person in front who was climbing through what was at the moment the latest of several barricades to be battered down - and not with bare fists I should add - was investigated and in danger of punishment despite being in immediate undeniable personal danger to which an international audience witnessed live and having a duty to defend your elected officials with his life. The elected officials that mob was there to murder. The mob was not to be touched while an actual policeman in the line of duty, overwhelmed, and fearing for his life, is a criminal in your eyes for discharging his weapon against the person at the front of the mob. Never mind the thousands of additional assailants behind Babbit, the violence and destruction and stated intention of murder each of those assailants was committing, the looting, the officers sent to hospital, that the Capitol’s defenders had to keep falling back because even Babbit’s death did not deter a continued assault and the rest of the mob simply stepped over her corpse to bash down the next barricade… No. Clear and present danger does not justify the spilling of American blood by a police officer even in the middle of a riot. And much effort was made to downplay the mob ranging from lying outright about the destruction and portraying it as a tour group, ridiculously charged with “marching indoors” and pointedly burying all mention of the injuries and deaths of Capitol police officers to put more sympathetic focus on Babbit while suggesting the police are violent murderous monsters the public should not trust.

Funny how absolutely everything is “for attention” and the response from you lot is always to not just ignore, but actively antagonize and suppress. Problems with your kids? They want attention, don’t give it to them, just send them to bed without dinner.

Also funny how every time a problem you give this treatment to boils over it somehow comes as a surprise and somebody should have been paying attention.

I mean the kids? The kids you’re supposed to be thinking of? The family whose values you’re supposed to be representing? The kids you’ve pointedly ignored have become such strangers in their own homes and alone in crowds that are even less interested in their problems than their parents they’re disaffected to the point where they get pulled into gangs, cults, militant groups, or just fucking snap and gun down a school? Well all those people should have been paying attention to their kids despite the part where you kept saying doing so is bad for them. Same goes for your kids “suddenly turning gay” or “suddenly hating you” or “suddenly not being what you raised them to be” or you “suddenly” don’t know the first thing about them. The word “sudden” here really stressing the air quotes and the implication that these are comparable to actual problems like the ones you ignore containing the same amount of biting sarcasm and contempt as those air quotes.

And it’s worse that it’s more than just our kids we do this to. Race relations? Sexual predation? The slow decline of society into an unlivable state? They just want attention. Ignore them like you ignore your kids and if the difference in social power between you is great enough punish them for bothering you the same way you would the children you only notice when they displease you by being individual people and not boxes ticked off your checklist. But then when you’re afraid of riots, the people you idolized rather than the people you kept giving the stinkeye to turn out to be rapists and child molesters, and you’re in the middle of a rotting city with a rising cost of living you can’t blame on the “wrong” people moving in? That’s all a surprise. There was no reason for a riot, the victims should have said something, and are you SURE we can’t blame somebody who just moved in for having ignored infrastructure, allowed natural resources to dwindle or become tainted, laughing off environmentalists as attention seekers to safely ignore, and the police are openly terrorizing what used to be the middle class now that the gap’s so wide the majority became the have-nots?

These panics you manufacture one after another? THOSE are for attention, and I fucking wish we could ignore you but your every attempt to make yourselves the only group of relevance in the public consciousness are actively destructive.

Here’s a quick experiment to judge the “value” of using physical pain as a means to assert logic.

Step 1) Stand still.
Step 2) I slap you every time you say something I think is stupid.
Step 3) We figure out if that inclines you to do as I say, or if your immediate reaction is to seek retribution.
Step 4) We compare how long it takes for people who insist this was the way things were done when they were kids and they “grew up properly” to react like “thugs” compared to people who were reasoned with, the ones you start at the point where you’re advocating violence but somehow don’t see that as thuggish.
Step 5) I slap you again.

See, you only think it “works” because you’re using force against someone you don’t think can reasonably defend themselves from you both in terms of a difference of size and the fact children are dependent on their caretakers for survival. The exact instant you lack leverage they don’t care what you think any more because that was the only metric you taught them mattered. As long as you’re the one with ultimate power, everyone else is the “thug” until they topple you. Then you want to negotiate like “civilized” people.

Actually Canada’s situation is more complicated than that. And by more complicated I mean incredibly and infuriatingly stupid. Because we refused to buy into a ballistic missile “shield” the U.S. made it’s official and explicit policy that if ballistic missiles are detected coming towards North America all Canadian military personnel will be ejected from NORAD control and we’ll be left to fend for ourselves with no information on where the missiles will hit.

Even though we are still the other half of NORAD, commit troops to and funding for aerospace defense and equipment maintenance, routinely affirm our alliance with the U.S. in many other ways every other day, and are expected to take part in any response to an attack on America both militarily and in terms of disaster relief.

Despite being told we will be kept aggressively in the dark about where the missiles are expected to hit and kept out of all briefings and decision making. Prevented with physical force from using equipment we pay for, maintain, and are manned by our personnel.

Because America couldn’t make a sale decades ago. And this is a stance that was reaffirmed during the Obama administration, and he was the guy that vaguely seemed to know what the fuck he was doing in that office.

America has a long running problem with unequal “partnerships” on many levels in their society.

Your first line of defense against tyranny was the free press and active fact-checking. You were happy to make it “the enemy of the people” for your fascist wannabe.

Your second line of defense was the checks and balances of government. Similarly you saw no reason to consider the branches of government actually equal, or that they should deign to comply with investigations. Well, not any investigations that aren’t of your tyrant’s political opponents. Then you’ll invite foreign interference to compromise national security as long as you can get your hands on dirt. And if your enemies aren’t obliging, you’ll extort the appearance of an investigation to imply there’s dirt to dig up out of an ally you’ll betray in an instant.

Your third line of defense was the impeachment process. Not an issue to be had letting the White House dictate the terms and Senators openly state they have no intention of being impartial. Hell the whole thing was just an extended campaign aid where everyone in attendance was insulted to sloppy musical edits.

Your “last line of defense against tyranny” is more commonly used to enforce the tyrant’s will without them getting their own hands dirty. They just rile you up and point you in a direction, like on Jan 6 where every single democratically elected official from both parties was nearly murdered on a big fat lie and the instigator skipped off home to watch TV and taunt the people trapped within. Followed by dictating the terms of his impeachment a second time because his party is full of cowards and his own co-conspirators who fear his impotent powerless ass more than they fear their voters.

And when you’re not actively aiding in the death of your democracy you’re killing your neighbours because you don’t think they look like they belong living on the same block as you. Because their dog barks. Because they reminded you your own dog should be on a leash. Because they cut you off in traffic. Because any and all sense you were required to have before you got your lethal toys was an impediment to being allowed to have it and you’ll fly off the second your feelings are hurt or your authority challenged and the only thought in your stupid head is getting that great big symbol of your manly power out to remind everyone this makes you more powerful than them and they should show you respect.

Ironically I think that air of detachment actually lent to the authenticity of the portrayal of a demi-god capable of feats of strength impossible to mere humans wandering mortal lands doing things that inspire legend with relatively little effort and saw it as an element that gave the character a sense of emotional isolation. Exalted by others, but forever separate and emotionally isolated. A being that could not be related to and in its quiet way quite tragic. Then it turns out that whole attitude of gazing down from his sense of superiority wasn’t really an act but the trying to empathize with those who are “beneath” him part was.

Michael Hurst as Iolaus brought a bit more life to the show. He was no Joxer the Mighty, but I sure as hell didn’t forget him. And his career, though less visible, isn’t quite the shitshow of Sorbo.

I’m not exactly one of the all-knowing gatekeepers of comics fandom but dude, seriously? Do you not even know who made the character? Or how he’s been portrayed over the years? From his story origins as a refugee from another civilization and real world origins as a product of the minds of two dirt-poor “nerds” from Jewish families that fled religious bigotry (one of them born in Canada before moving to Ohio and in a strange coincidence their fathers were both tailors by trade) Superman was pretty much the definition of how liberals idealized the American dream from day one and pictured someone who would otherwise have had nothing welcomed with open arms into a fair chance at life grow to have every advantage possible but then using their newfound power selflessly for the sake of others so they can pursue their own lives freely because that’s what they thought their adoptive home did for them and took that hope to heart.

Is the pure power fantasy and idea that he was just born better than everyone - notably naturally better than the Americans who took him in - literally the only part of him you identify with? It seems you’re downright furious all that character and wholesome humanity and humble appreciation for his adoptive parents and home gets in the way of imagining him act like an omnipotent two year old who simply cannot be meaningfully held to consequence. Superman doesn’t exist to fulfill your own sick daydreams of stomping all over anyone who told you to reign it in. From this attitude and how you portray the “leftist” idea of a man with morals it’s easy to say the conservative view of the American dream is that it’s unattainable to anyone not born to it and the powerful must smack it out of the hands of the weak and stomp them into the mud where they “belong” instead of acting at their protector. Who wasn’t born an American. So it’s the explicit exaltation of hypocrisy.

Try the Spectre instead. The unhinged, amoral, mass-murdering embodiment of retribution of explicitly divine origin with the mind of a crooked cop from the 30’s who couldn’t give a fig who gets hurt as long as his personal take on justice is satisfied and yet is still somehow one of the “good” guys. Even though one of his arch enemies is basically exactly the same thing - responsible for the Biblical flood no less - but considered evil. Sounds more your thing.

A writer’s inability to make a story isn’t the character’s fault. If the writer invents another character to do exactly what they intended for the first and that’s the only way they’ll proceed with the story then clearly there is something wrong with the writer and not the character or story. If a black woman just being front and center is all it takes for you to completely disregard everything that’s happening and focus on her like she’s a still image you’ll glare at until you go blind while the story takes place unless she’s pushed to one side to make a geriatric white guy the main character in the same story you will otherwise ignore completely there is very clearly something wrong in your head. Your attempt to throw cold water on the fact that death from pregnancy complications is a thing runs into a few immediate hurdles, not the least of which being you’re deliberately avoiding how those stats relate to age and are just hoping people get bored and disinterested with numbers from reports you’re not representing with any honesty and only hope to duck behind the good name of the entities that performed the studies hoping people are dumb enough to think that confers legitimacy on to you for no reason other than referencing them. And that this disinterest and attempt to hide in another entity’s shadow prevents them from realizing that you’re ducking the only actually relevant point of data to your entire sick premise.

1) Those deaths and post birth life shortening defects are still quite pointedly massively more likely for the tweens you want to knock up no matter how you try to dismissively frame the numbers.

2) When complications are seen coming abortion is an option, thus preventing that death. That prevention is 99% of the reason maternity appears less lethal in more developed countries. You’ll notice in a country where abortions are severely restricted but all other facets of medicine are up to Western standards the odds of a woman dying in childbirth skyrocket.

3) Surviving a live birth despite complications drastically reduces the viability of the next pregnancy. You’re trying to downplay 500 deaths for every 100,000 births but seem to be forgetting not only that women are capable of getting pregnant more than once in life but are often expected to whether they like it or not. . Your own “logic” about raping little girls is disguised as trying to maximize the number of pregnancies to get out of them. And each pregnancy, even a perfectly healthy one, adds a compounding probability of something going wrong in the next. And with that in mind? A woman’s lifetime chance of dying in childbirth in sub-Saharan Africa is 1 in 39, not one out of the thousands you’re trying to trick people into thinking it is. And again the cumulative damage from a pregnancy is quite predictably more extensive to someone whose body hasn’t even finished developing preventing that development from finishing as it was meant to and thus is FAR DEADLIER TO A CHILD especially if you figure ‘alive’ is all you need to try and have a second or third go. It’s the leading cause of death for women in an area plagued by poverty, war, AIDS, rapists, and dipshits spreading disinformation that exacerbates all four of those things while pretending their agenda is about morality the way you pretend your agenda is about marriage or God or population growth or anything other than exerting your dominance over little girls who can’t fight you off.

This is neither here nor there but I decided to go metaphorically dumpster diving and loosely familiarized myself with Tucker Carlson’s thoughts on masculinity. Namely that men absolutely need to take in as many hormones from external sources as possible and constantly perform gender affirming masculine activities or else they will simply somehow cease to be men. And generally take the attitude that their masculinity is being questioned by everyone at all times, and that even questioning it is a dire threat to be dealt with aggressively.
