Honestly posts like this give me mixed feelings; while I am fully aware that not all Autist are as high-functioning as some of us are, and living with them might not be easy for other people, most autists (even not high-functioning ones) CAN function in society if they are just given proper care and guide. Vaccines do not cause autism. Because they simply cannot if you stop to think about it for just five seconds. Autism is simply our brains being inherently wired differently from neurotypical folks since before we were even born. Vaccines are all different from each other, and consist of basically a weakened version of the disease they’re meant to protect against.

Okay, first of all, both Gaza and Ukraine are terrible tragedies that should never have happened, let alone at the same time. But Ukraine is not a lie, Putin is most certainly commiting genocide there and trying to annex a foreign nation. And secondly, while I fully disagree with Netanyahu’s ethnic cleansing of Palestinians (and bombing foreign aid workers), people often seem to forget that Hamas started this conflict by attacking innocent & defensless Isreali citizens, abducting them, torturing them, and murdering them. Exactly my opinion as well. Even if there is some form of intelligence or cosmic force or whatnot (incomprehensible as it may be) making sure the universe keeps running (and I don’t think we have the capacity to prove it either way just yet), I still think its very reasonably sure to say the biblical god (especially Hovind’s intepretation) version of said force cannot exist.

I can write a whole manifesto on why I think so, but I’m not in the mood right now and have better things to do.

I remember that one, “Relics”, wasn’t it? Fun fact, but that plot line actually gets revisited in the MMO “Star Trek Online”.

Personally I always found it a wasted opportunity from ST not to revisit that in the show itself. You’d think that an intact DS would have immeasurable research potential for Starfleet for decades to come. At the very least Discovery S5 is bothering to put a close to another TNG episode with an abandoned (yet full-of-potential) plotline.

Fun fact, but some people might argue that any civilization advanced enough to actually build a Dyson Sphere would have no actual need for one (the biggest pro of a DS is to maximize the energy absorption of a star’s total output). So building dozens of DS’ seems like a very inefficient use of resources and time.

Not saying that building a DS is impossible, but I just don’t think that anyone would bother to build so many…

Anyway, I admit I have fantasized/hypothesized that the “final evolution” of an advanced species could be uploading your entire civilization in immortal digital forms stored in a Matrioshka brain-type DS. But I’m still not acting like that is confirmed reality…

I think I get what you’re trying to say, but even if the parents simply couldn’t take care of their disabled child no matter what (and there are no support networks whatsoever either), there are still FAR more humane options than literally throwing the child to the crocodiles.

I mean, I grew up with Harry Potter (like so many), and I read most of them as they came out, so I may be a bit biased there, but the novels really weren’t that bad. Especially before they were tainted by She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named going all TERF.

That being said, I still think the Percy Jackson books (and their countless spinoffs) are objectively much better anyway. At least Rick Riordan is a very open minded person who really appreciates his fans, as opposed to a certain She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Seriously, I’m actually kinda impressed how Rick manages to write very LGBTQIA+ friendly books about Greek myths(*) and such while still staying very kid-friendly.
