If “objective morality” is decreed by a being that actually flip-flops on its own standards (look at the difference between the Old and New Testaments), then it is no longer objective morality, ya dumbass. It becomes subjective morality.

Seriously, I’ve tried having this argument with fundies before and they are just too dense to get it. Even ignoring that wether or not objective morality is even capable of existing at all is a philosophical question (not a theological one) that people smarter than us combined still debate to this day; it by definition stops being objective morality once its dependend on the OPINIONS of any one being… Even if that being is a deity.

No, what Fundies mean with “objective morality” is actually “might makes right”. Aka “god is the biggest and the strongest, thus he can decide what is wrong”. Especially if it does not apply to god itself. I’ve seen Fundies claim with 100% conviction that if god declares pedophilia, rape, and slavery moral, then it IS moral. And then they dare claim we “nonbelievers” are the depraved ones…

I’d bet my entire savings that Kanye has never watched “The Animatrix”- specifically the part “Second Renaissance”. It was exactly because the humans were being bigoted fascists with no desire for peace that FORCED the Machines to turn to war and build the Matrix to begin with. The only other option left at that point was Mutually Assured Destruction.

And this is why teaching proper history in schools (and decent education in general) is so important. I may be too young to have experienced the horrors of the Holocaust, and my grandparents were never in the heat of the war (though they did feel its effects), but having been taught the nightmares in school, and having visited concentration camps turned into monuments for the victims, made me determined to never have that repeat again in my lifetime. …And yet, Fascism and Nazism are already taking deep root in the once proud, free, and powerful USA.

I really believe that it’s less about “Biblical accuracy”, and more about the fact that they cannot STAND being anything less than the most important people in existence.

People will be incredulous about the Big Bang, but yet they're convinced that the universe needs a creator, beause everything that exists needs to come from something else, and for no reason that anybody's adequately explained to me ... god himself is something that exists yet did not need a creator? Mmkay... I'm sticking with Big Bang on that one; like, Big Bang makes more sense.

And just FYI, that’s hardly the only thing about creationism that does not make sense. Like, how can day and night exist before the Earth did, when day and night are dependent on Earth’s position towards the sun? Or how does an omnipotent being like god need 6 days to build one mudball? Especially since time didn’t exist yet back then apparently?

And the whole “god needs a creator dilemma” simply has no logical answer IMO. If everything that exists needs to come from something else that exists, then god must have come from something else as well. And if god did not come from something else, then god by definition does not “exist”. And if god is a nonexistent being, then the earth came from something that does not exist. Ergo, however you spin it, something CAN come from nothing by their very own arguments!

Their argument is solely “it’s moral because god says it is”.
