If they have a civil unions, they might have to take the hospital to court to establish that the conditions are equal.
Same for picking up kids from school, or enrolling them in afterschool programs, or signing them up for sports.
Same for power of attorney if your spouse is in a coma, or out of the country on a business trip.
Same for any business, trying to get paid for a loan/purchase if they have to collect from the spouse.
Same for every doctor’s office on that form, can we leave messages with your spouse.
Same in court for whehter or not the spouse can be compelled to testify.
