Continue due to word limits.
But then you’ve got the ones that take matters too extremely, and, as a result, put themselves in a situation where they can hurt others. And I don’t just mean police officers, but innocent people as well.
I’ll bring up two key examples that we need to keep a close eye on.
The first involves young Dana Baraket, an anti-Israeli protester who has caused trouble before. Back in 2023, she was seen tearing down hostage posters and saying “F*** Israel” out loud in an effort to show her disdain for the world. But this past week, she was at it again, this time attacking two police officers with pepper spray, unprovoked. While she did that, she attempted to take the gun from one of the officers. She was arrested as a result of the attack, though official charges haven’t been revealed yet.
Two big problems here. First off, you have someone taking their opinion to the extreme and walking up to officers in a very violent fashion. Secondly, she did it with a weapon – pepper spray, but still a weapon nevertheless – and then tried to grab an officer’s gun. I can tell you right now that’s a huge no-no, and a one way ticket to a holding cell. You never touch a police officer’s firearm. Ever.
There are people like Baraket everywhere, becoming increasingly violent with their opinions and attacking others just to get their point across. It’s just plain wrong.
On top of that, a police officer in Alvarado, Texas, was shot this past Friday by a citizen just outside the Prairieland Detention Facility. While details are still coming from the incident, the fact that it was close to an ICE building is no coincidence.
The Trump Administration has already made it clear that there is “zero tolerance” for people like these, and I agree. These are criminal types that want to absolutely make their voices heard by trying to silence others. There’s simply no room for that, period.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche explained that “We are closely monitoring the attacks on DHS detention facilities” and will be working very closely with law enforcement officers on the matter. “The Department [of Justice] has zero tolerance for assaults on federal officers or property and will bring the full weight of the law against those responsible.”
Hear, hear. These attacks should not be happening and these people need to be held accountable for their actions. Period.
Again, you have a right to an opinion. Of course you do. Free speech is one of the biggest things you can have. But it’s when you take it to such a level that you can do harm – or even kill – others that it becomes a problem.
