More needs to be said about the self-identity of western progressives. I would maintain that the defense of this identity (and its virtue) explains most of the insanity coming from the left today.

I notice two tricks, in particular, being used by leftists here.

First trick, linguistic, is the creation of loose words for their own political radicalism. These words are used to organize and galvanize when new, when discredited however they disappear and seem to apply to no one. We can see this in labels like “AntiFa” which the left has defended for years but now seems to be a figment of our collective imaginations. It also applies to general terms (“SJW” and “woke”). Who coined these? The left. But to hear their account they are right wing smears. This is process is complemented by the second trick, historical, that defines “progressive”, as by its essential nature, to be good, honest, and always winning. As such their history curves around counter examples and a self flattering triumphalist narrative is constructed. Whereas real identities (religion, ethnicity, and nation) refer to real things and therefore have real messy records of good and bad actions, the progressive identity need not worry itself with such troubling nuance. Any evil doer who called themselves a “leftist” or “progressive” in the past is vetoed from their history by definition. The inquisition & crusades will forever be part of “Catholic history”, but Eugenics and the Gulags are not and never will be part of “progressive” history. Progressivism is of course a religion. But these deceptive tactics give it the ability to do things we don’t usually allow. The first is the construction of impossible to meet historical moral standards. Since the left can never be held to account this is a fun excercise.

The second is an ability to shift standards in order to maintain its dual illusions (“always right and always wing”). For this reason neither the progressive moralist nor prophet ever need to doubt their work. But also as a consequence, the ideology itself is mercurial. Many have said that progressives see “progress as God” (e.g. it cannot fail it can only be failed) but the problem is deeper. The “God” the progressives worship has no nature, it is shifting, and ephemeral. There is no there there. Progressives have created for themselves and identity that always wins and that is always good, but the price they pay is that this identity is entirely EMPTY. It has nothing in it.

As such the progressive is the culmination the ne plus ultra of the rootless and stale modern condition, as sad as that is.

You mention you or somebody you know has mental issues, and the first thing normies ask is "is it diagnosed?", you mention a psychological concept that you've observed or learned, and they'll ask "where did you read that?" or may say "well a psychologist may know best" or something like that. You come up with a scientific law over endless consistent observations of the same pattern in several different contexts (the blackpill), and to normies it's not real science, because we're not sciencists, even though actual psychologists and psychiatrists are bluepilled and clueless as fuck.

To society, this doesn't matter. They make everything about official certifications, degrees, diagnoses etc. This may seem like a good thing, or something civilized to do, but actually, it's in line with a tribal instinct that's as old as time. What those credentials in general boil down to is social recognition, and the fact that people cares more about social recognition than the truth. In fact, to them, social consensus literally defines the truth.

This makes sense in the case of, for example, a doctor or a chemist. If they have a degree it means they've studied a lot of stuff on the field so it makes sense to trust them. However, in the case of psychology it's just retarded.

My therapist is clueless tbh. I go to her because it's free and to vent, but 3 sessions in, I can already tell there's no way this woman will be able to help me out. She's way in over her head, and I know a lot more than her tbh. Only way this person may be helpful is if you're a full normie and have never dealt with any adversity (or did suffer but didn't learn anything) and are completely unprepared, then sure, a therapist's knowledge may be a godsend.

Literally reading Elliot Rodger's manifesto is better therapy than any therapist for any incel. Or this forum. To the Boomers it is always the 1960s and it turns out that the important issues today are exactly what was important to 1960s liberals. In fact, the book reads like a cry of “can’t we just keep debating the same things we did in the 60s?” The main threat is still those dastardly Christian conservative creationists who are always on the brink of becoming Nazis. The multicultural disasters of Rotterdam, South Africa, Malmo, and Paris are nowhere to be found. All we need is more education and some 1960s-style integration programs. (Remember how in the 60s we did integration, and it worked so well that there are now no racial issues in politics?) But equally, Pinker doesn’t like how the Left has moved on from the 60s: away from individualism to identity politics, away from free speech and towards banning unpopular views, away from modernism and towards post-modernism.

The stated argument of the book is that the Enlightenment values of reason, science, and humanism produced great improvements to human welfare, but those values and the benefits they bestow are under threat from both the Left and Right, and so we must rededicate ourselves to protecting these values and fighting against their foes. While the coronavirus first seemed as if it would serve as an acceptable scapegoat for the failure of Leftism — diversity failing, equality creating enmity, mass incompetence of democracy, pollution threatening lives, food and water stocks failing, and war looming — the divisions in our population emerged.

We can see two groups: the unisonists, who want us all to do the same methods in unison so that no one gets ahead of anyone else, and the naturalists, who want us to each find our niche and for natural selection to trim the weak from among us while promoting the strong so we get stronger as a group.

Unisonists come from the oldest human impulse, fear. They fear that someone has something that they do not. They fear that their own inability to achieve the same thing will place them at a lower rank. In fact, they know they are lesser than others, but want to use the power of the herd to obliterate that.

The naturalists accept that there is an order larger than the self, that we all fit within it, and that we have a niche in it, both in terms of vertical rank and specialization. They do not look for universal truths and rules; they want to find something that works for them.

Right now, the naturalists have accepted risk because they recognize that life is uncertain and things sometimes turn out badly. It is better, they think, to have a functional civilization with some deaths than a dysfunctional civilization with slightly fewer deaths.

Sanskrit, Greek and Latin are three different languages. Contrary to what some of the users have suggested, in truth, Sanskrit does NOT belong to the PIE family. The hypothesis that Sanskrit and European languages including Greek are related is a "lie" for three reasons, among others -------------- (1) There is no language without culture: we have heard of French language and French culture; Greek language and Greek culture. The relationship between the two is such that one can NEVER exist without the other. There is no language without a culture and vice versa. If there really existed an Indo-European family of languages, how can they exist in isolation from an Indo-European family of cultures ??? Since an IE composite culture cannot be located anywhere in the world (indeed, there is Indian culture in opposition to European culture), the theory that there existed a PIE super family of languages is purely counter-intuitive, especially when there is no VALID proof (that fails the test of falsification), without which there is no question of empirical science.
